The Maple Mountain Football program celebrated the 9th annual Maroon and Gold Football game by adding an Alumni Flag Football game prior to the Maroon and Gold game.
There was a good turn out of former MMHS players to separate in to two teams based on the year they graduated. Even numbered years were the Gold (white jersey) team and odd numbered years was the Maroon Team. The MMHS coaching staff served as referees. They played two 20 minute halves.
The Alumni Elleves performed a halftime routine. The game was very competitive and was fun to watch. It came down to the lady few seconds and ended 36-34 for the Gold team.
After the Alumni festivities the High School Team was briefed by the referees to talk about what they are looking for this year and any other changes to the rules.
From there the teams started to play through different scenarios provided by Coach Brad Burtenshaw. Each Team had time to advance and then after a score there were a set of Place kick scenarios.
At Half time the Elleves performed a routine and then the Jr. Cheer clinic had all of the kids perform their routine.
Just as the 2nd half was about to begin the game was called due to lightning in the area and after waiting a while it was decided to end the game due to the storm.
Thanks to everyone who helped put on a great kickoff to the 2017 Football season. The MMHS Golden Eagles take on Woods Cross away on August 18th.
