Maple Mountain played cross-town rival Spanish Fork Friday night. The game started slow for the Golden Eagles and every time they would put a score on the board Spanish Fork would respond. After a crazy last few minutes in the 1st half Spanish Fork was up with a quick TD on a kickoff return to end the first half. Maple Mountain was down 27-17 at this time.
After halftime the Golden Eagles came back and made some adjustments to get on the board. The game came down to the final 5 minutes of the 4th quarter where Maple Mountain was able to get ahead of Spanish Fork and hold off any attempt for them to score.
The Golden Eagles offense had 419 yards of total offense in 61 plays with 298 of those passing. Nelson had 23 completions for 40 attempts and averaged 13 yards per reception. Tyler threw two TDs, one to Thomas Weight and one to Aeden Seiuli. Thomas Weight and Tyler nelson each had a rushing touchdown. Seth Krommenhoek had 3 field goals, the longest was 40 yds and Seth was 3 for 4 on extra points. Brian Bess had 5 receptions for 85 yards, Kyson Hall had 5 receptions for 71 yards.
The Defense allowed 285 yards to the Dons, and held them to only 101 yards rushing. The Defense had 2 interceptions. The leading tackler was Trevin Hubbard with 5. all of them for a loss. Andrew Jensen had 4.5 and Bret King had 4.5. Cole McAllister had a 79 yard punt return touchdown in the third quarter to keep the Golden Eagles in the game.
