Maple Mountain Eagles Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-2 loss to Payson on Tuesday.

Payson scored on a triple by Megan Curtis and a single by Cheznie Roundy in the second inning.

Payson pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Curtis tripled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs and Roundy singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Payson scored four runs in the third inning. Payson offense in the inning was led by Bailey Marvin, Bergen Naccarato, and Roundy, all driving in runs in the inning.

Marvin was in the circle for Payson. The bulldog allowed three hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking one.

Ellie Jackson toed the rubber for Maple Mountain Eagles Varsity. The hurler allowed seven hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out two and walking one.

Jaelan Davis threw one inning out of the bullpen.

Davis, Jackson, and Aaliyah Peterson all had one hit to lead Maple Mountain Eagles Varsity.

Payson tallied eight hits. Rylie Raine and Hailey Mangum all had multiple hits for Payson.
